I actually made a great video that shows you how to set up the Ozark Trail instant sun shelter. Sometimes it’s easier to watch someone set it up and talk about it, rather than read ozark trail sleeping bag a review. Feel free to check out the video below, or you can scroll on down and read more about the sun shade. I am all about saving a few bucks with Walmart’s camping gear.
A divider curtain offers privacy for changing clothes, a napping baby or extra protection from strong UV rays. Assembling the sun shelter is a simple task and takes only a few minutes with two adults. One thing we love about Ozark Trail canopy tents are the accessories that can be added to the shelters. These include sidewalls, weight bags, and a host of other great add-ons that can really increase the use and versatility of the canopy tent. Perhaps our two favorites are camping tent additions that connect to the frame of the shelter and leverage the stability of the 10×10 frame to support a camping tent structure. The canopy fabric is made of a lightweight denier polyester, offering water resistant features and 50+ UPF, which we love.
We assembled the shock corded poles IN THE DARK (no previous setup) and with driving snow, slide them into place on the tent. 2 guys hooked in the rear corners while 2 of us bent the poles (erecting the tent upright) into place and hooked them in the front corners. We then attached quick clips, while 2 guys took the rainfly, put it into place, and put in the rainfly pole. We then finished staking the tent down and guying out the tent and rainfly.
Also always put some form of plastic on the ground under the tent this keeps ground water from seeping up, finally keep bags away from the tent sides this reduces surface tension and leads to leaking. I had already decided this was it’s undoing when the final time I pitched it in the yard the fly ripped. The basin first started leaking at the start of its second summer outings. The cloth rapidly became UV brittle, and each time I pitched it I worried it might rip. The rain fly has a small 3-section pole that makes a nice bump out for an awning over the entry, but this feature fails in stormy weather, when it would be most useful.
Being protected from the suns harmful UVB rays is probably why you wanted a canopy tent in the first place, and this Ozark Trail tent meets all criteria in this department. The one complaint we have is that there is no vents in the fabric at the peak to release the build up of hot air under the canopy. Most new tents incorporate this ventilated canopy design to increase airflow and reduce the trapping of hot air, helping to keep those in the shade cooler and more comfortable.
This will be coming with us to the beach and any sporting outings where we will be exposed to the weather. I need a break from the Pacific NW clouds and rain sometimes. ozark trail sun shelter I go out to the rural part of the state where it is hot and dry. While this is amazing for evenings around the camp fire, the day time in the sun can be brutal.
Is it for a large family or just used short camping trips? If you’re going to use air mattresses, be sure it fits your size of mattress (most tents can fit a queen size air mattress). I’ve had this tent for 5+ years, it still works great and is in good shape, except for the rainfly.
A subreddit for campers concerned more about the act of camping and less concerned about hiking long distances or light gear. Browse Ozark Trail’s top-rated hiking and camping gear and more. I continually snooped on other campers to see what I missed on other brands. The cup holders seem ridiculous, since food should never be taken in a tent.
Very tall in the middle allowing me at 6 feet 3 inches tall and 260 pounds to finally be able to stand all the way up and not feel crowded in a tent. The closets seemed pointless when we bought it but have turned out to be a huge help. It lets you keep everything off the floor and out of your way so middle-of-the-night trips out of the tent do not include tripping over anything. The square sides mean that the entirety of the floor space is fully usable, unlike more common dome tents.
