After researching many different models, I decided upon the ozark trail instant canopy. Overall, this tent is not worth it if rain is involved. It would be good for summer camping in the sun shade mode, or backyard camping for the kids, but I don’t know if I would risk it for backpacking. It is not very heavy, and not poorly constructed, but it just isn’t sturdy or waterproof. Spend a little more money and get a better tent. The Ozark Trail instant sun shade was incredibly easy to put up and even easier to take down.
There is only one shade, which can be put on either side of the sun shelter. You just angle the shelter where you need it, then attach the shade. It’s literally that easy and is very quick and efficient to set up.
I don’t see why you would spend more money on the more expensive sun shades, when the Ozark Trail did such a great job. We also plan on using this at football games in the fall. It’s often raining and it seems like this will also make a great shelter out of the rain. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it beats sitting in the actual rain trying to control an umbrella. It kept anyone out of the sun who chose to be that day.
