Of the Schwinn electric bicycles, the Marshall is the cheapest model they sell. However, the bike doesn’t sacrifice much compared to the other models, it just has a slightly smaller battery and overall range. In 2019, the company finally entered the electric bike market with a line of Schwinn eBikes for every type of rider.
We don’t boss you around; we’re simply here to bring authenticity and understanding to all that enriches our lives as men on a daily basis. If you leave the battery mongoose bmx in the bike, there is a rubber port cover you need to move before plugging in the bike. This helps keep the battery dry if you get caught out in the rain.
Mechanical disc brakes help provide plenty of stopping power, whereas one of the standout features is the rear rack which has a 55lb. There are no fenders or a rear rack on the Marshall, which is one of the biggest differences between this Schwinn electric bike and the Schwinn Coston electric bike. While it could use a little boost to a 500 watt motor to help on the hills, the smaller motor keeps the price lower. If you’re looking for a solid ebike to help you get around on-road and off, definitely check out the Schwinn Marshall. The motor stops assisting when you hit 32 km/h (20mph) with the throttle or pedalling. For most of my riding around trails and small paths in the city, the 32 km/h motor limit is plenty.
Once the electric’s on, there are three modes of assistance to choose from on that left control panel — flat, downhill, and hill climbing. We’re not saying it’s without effort, but it’s a greatly reduced effort. Uphill, however, we definitely expended a significantly higher amount of energy with our toothpick-like legs. On flat roads, shifting gears will allow you to put more or less effort into your ride as you please, allowing for a lot of levity in the experience.
The battery locks in under the frame of the bike, and the front wheel/fender tended to get in the way when removing or reinstalling the battery. One feature I liked was a secondary tab you need to retract to remove the battery. That way, when mongoose excursion you unlock the battery it doesn’t just fall out. Some thought was put into the idea there and I appreciated it. Before we get into the e-bike itself, I want to take a moment to talk about e-bike ownership and what it has meant for me.
To save you the trouble, we did our research and analyzed expert reviews to put an end to your curiosity. The Schwinn Tailwind is one amongst a large number of electric bicycles available today, a segment gaining popularity due to interest in transportation alternatives to the car. But don’t expect to sit back and let the Tailwind whisk you along–the electric motor on this bike merely provides assistance; the rider still has to pedal. I mostly used the motor in pedal-assist mode, though I will cover the throttle in the next section.
