April 29th, 2006 was proclaimed “Ozark Trail Day” by Missouri’s governor, and in May 2008 a portion of the trail was designated a National Recreational Trail. In 2013 Missouri was named Best Trails State at the International Trails Symposium, due in part to the increasing popularity of ozark trail backpack the Ozark Trail. Our Mega events provide free camping, free lunch & dinner, live music, a giant bonfire, and fun raffles for kids and adults. It was a cooperative effort of seven governmental agencies, one private landowner, and several environmental groups banded together in what later became the Ozark Trail Council. Under this cooperative relationship, the Ozark Trail Council oversaw the construction of some 170+ miles of trail in just under a decade. Along with previously existing trails, the Ozark Trail system contained more than 200 miles of trail by 1991.

During a camping trip, I sat in a friend’s REI Flexlite Camp Boss, which is a larger version of REI’s ozark trail backpack Flexlite line of chairs that we mention in the competition. It was surprisingly comfortable and more stable than the Flexlite and Flexlite Air that we tested. We look forward to having a testing panel compare it to our top lightweight pick. This chair’s sturdy frame and higher seat height made that precarious dance just a little bit easier.
And the Sunshade Rocker isn’t so heavy that I wouldn’t take it to camp even if I had a long walk. Because this chair packs easily, it’s a great, versatile option that you can use at camp, your kids’ little league games, or backyard barbecues. “I recommend the YETI Trailhead camp chair for easy setup and takedown, and for people with back problems. The Ozark Trail obelisk stands in a triangular patch of grass about 1.4 miles south. For years the obelisk was tagged with graffiti, although it was completely cleaned and refreshed by Route 66 enthusiast Sam Murray in 2019. Of the original 21 obelisks, only seven remain nationwide. As fate would have it, traffic was later routed north of that downtown stretch to Route 66’s current location. Oklahoma has an even older stretch of roadway called the Ozark Trail that dates back to 1913.
Helping build, maintain, or promote the Ozark Trail is a rewarding experience, and numerous opportunities are available to volunteers. Become a member of our organization or make a donation to help us keep our trail system beautiful. The Ozark Trail Association was founded in 2002, and has added more than 50 miles of trail to date, most constructed by volunteers. The association continues to maintain and expand the Ozark Trail.
What I don’t like is that it doesn’t have a cup holder, but I recently saw a version of this chair at Costco that does. I don’t like the soft pocket style of the holder because I can’t put a coffee mug in it. So I built an accessory out of PVC pipe that slips over the support stand and now I have a great cup holder and I can hold a plate and/or cell phone. The Strongback chairs are super comfortable, don’t sag, and have great back support.
