Trail Friendly Business Spotlight: Genesis Bicycles D&L

A brand of Sportline, H Young (Operations) Ltd., it is considered a major brand along side of Saracen and Ridgeback. Not to make things even more confusing, but Sportline is under the marketing umbrella of Madison, the largest distributor of bicycle parts and components genesis bike in the UK. There are, however, a number of points that make this a more versatile bike than the carbon alternative. Tyre clearance is increase to 38c, there are discrete mudguard and pannier mounts and an extra set of bottle bosses is present on the downtube.

Genesis created the personalities and graphics for bikes built for the world’s diverse cultures. You can see our work for Giant in the grueling Tour de France, on Tokyo commuter streets, and in a garage much like your own. Genesis Bikes are a British cycling brand with a heritage of genesis mountain bike building the kind of bikes that they want to ride themselves. The kind of bikes that make you dream of your next adventure no matter the size. Since 2001 Genesis Bikes have had an eye for the finer details, utilising the very best materials and always heading in their own direction.

The Genesis bicycles sold by Circuit Cycle & Sports in Millet, Alberta, are a Canadian brand from Cycle Babac in Montreal, Quebec. A completely different bicycle, right down to the models and warranties provided. The Datum comes with 32c tyres, which is a bit closer to the ‘road’ end of the spectrum. But there is clearance for up to 38c, so if the conditions require it, this bike is able to handle the rougher stuff. If you want more control over exactly what components your bikes is built with, both of these are available to buy as just the frameset. In this range there are also women’s specific models – in addition to the unisex ones.

For the entry level, you’ll get a Shimano Claris 2×8 drivetrain, an aluminium frame and carbon fork. Whilst the 30 model gets a Shimano 105 2×11 drivetrain, along with the aluminium frame and carbon fork. Giant is the largest manufacturer of quality bicycles in the world. What they owned in “build quality” they lacked in brand connectivity. Genesis was hired to help create a brand visual language to help tie the products into a cohesive whole in the global marketplace. Finding the center of the brand design was based on our uncovering the “truth in materials” position.

Genesis are especially known for leading the welcome revival of steel framed bikes across several categories including 29ers, cross, road and track bikes. Ostensibly, this is a more budget-oriented version of the Vapour Carbon. The aluminium frame is cheaper, although the fork is still carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic. The drivetrain is still a performance oriented 1×11 set up and, in all, this is still a competitive racing machine.

Credited with creating the first-ever gravel bike, Genesis bicycles are designed to take you on adventure — off-road, on-road, or wherever your heart desires. If you’re in the market for a bike, the lines of bikes Genesis carries offers something for everyone, no matter your level, size, or age. The sales crew is always there with a smile to fit each customer and offer test rides in the parking lot – with a helmet fitting too, of course. Gravel bikes are what everyone wants right now, says Erin Fagan, the events coordinator (and more) at Genesis Bicycles in Easton. For Erin, being so close to the trail is a huge advantage since beginners are nervous riding on the road with cars.

This gives a Genesis bicycle bought in Millet, Alberta, a two-year warranty. With a 2×9 Shimano Sora groupset and mechanical disc brakes, there are notable differences to the higher end Croix de Fer. But these won’t present an impediment to getting out and using the frame for the huge variety of applications it has the capability for. Gravel riding, endurance road riding, cycle-touring, commuting, these are all still possible on this bike – it’s just a more accessible platform to get started with. The angles are steep, the front end is low and there aren’t mudguard or pannier mounts.

Genesis is the upmarket and more performance oriented partner brand of Ridgeback. They are best known for their UK specific, and progressive, often experimental bike designs with very high specification. As with Ridgeback, ‘UK specific’ means these bikes are made for our particular cycling conditions, instead of according to an international one-size-fits-all formula.
