Gear: The Ozark Trail Screenhouse

Absolutely no apology for the poor quality of the product. The plastic corners are not worth putting the room up. But I did find this to get parts from California. When I got the thing home and deboxed it, the reality began to set in.

Some middle sections fell out but I had a standing frame of sorts, swaying and wobbling. ozark trail screen house The screen is great for nice weather. It gives great shade and it keeps flies out.

The rest of the process was funny too, with wimpy frizzy guylines, and inexplicable bits of plastic that are supposed to tighten them. I had to use every knot I’ve learned from rock climbing. There’s shade, and fewer bugs than outside the screenhouse. I do have some reservations left, though. I wonder what will happen when the wind comes. Will I come home and just find the screenhouse gone, or will I see it blowing around in the street, trailing pipe segments?

We will not replace the 3-way hubs again. The campground received a moderate rain on the second night and the roof collected water in several places, causing the screen house to collapse. This was not a heavy rain by any means as no other shelters or tents collapsed. The ozark trail chairs weight of the water actually bent several poles on the roof and one leg. This probably could have been prevented by adding more yellow support poles to the roof. It seems like I am the second person to review this product, and the second one to give it a 1 Star rating.

Goes together well, but as soon as we got a little shower…. Total collapse, hubs (2) shattered and two sets of poles completely destroyed. Not sure if I should order replacement parts or not, maybe I should just consider this a waste of money, and cut my losses while I can. This is totaly wrong that a company doesn’t keep parts in stock. I was told to try and return it to the place I purchased it or wait the 4-6 weeks.

If anyone reading this review has any idea where I can purchase another one just like it, please contact me at Trailspace’s community of gear reviewers has field-tested and rated the top tents and shelters. Tried to buy replacement parts but they were discontinued. The screening and roof are all in excellent condition, along with all the poles, etc. With two more roof poles, I’m sure this could be prevented.

One mad idea often begets another, and that is how this $34.95 purchase came about. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere in the blog, I’m getting married in Joshua Tree on August 2nd, outdoors. Shade can be a matter of survival there if you’re outside at midday. Then I started having other wild fantasies, like effectively adding a room to the desert shack where I live by erecting the shadehouse in the backyard. Wasn’t even able to get the tent set up in a mild wind before one of the corner plastic parts broke. I have purchased outdoor sporting goods from Coleman and they not only have much better products, but they stand behind what they sell.

Well I’m a camper and I intend to use this weekly. We have a love-hate relationship with this screen tent. But, the slightest wind or rain and the whole thing comes down because of flimsy roof design. After multiple storms/fall downs, the screen portion has suffered some massive wounds.

Just had to comment after reading these old reviews of folks who couldn’t seem to set it up without either A. Find the best hiking/camping product for your next outdoor adventure using our independent reviews and ratings. Hard to set up for one person. It take 2 people at least to set this screen house up. This model has been discontinued and I only need two parts to fix it.

It’s starting to wear out and I’m looking to replace but can’t find one anywhere. Can someone point me to the person please. Had I have known that this particular screen house was so hard to find, I would have bought a kit and tried to repair it.
