In this Coleman 6 person instant cabin tent review, we unveiled the secrets of the tent. It’s more suitable as a good four person instant tent, it’s pretty easy to set up, the pole structure may be weak and the WeatherTec system isn’t great for rain and difficult weather. The only issue is while the Coleman Skydome calls itself an instant tent, it really isn’t one. It lacks telescopic poles or pop-open features to make it truly instant.
On top of that, the PU coatings on both tents are specifically stated to be “water-resistant”, emphasis on “resistant”, and not exactly the most waterproof. The hydrostatic head ratings on both brands’ tents are not the highest, I think easily less than 1,000 millimeters, so the fabric will also start leaking after an hour of heavy rain. As long as the windows are with mesh only, the ventilation is coleman screen tent definitely great, and you will not have issues with condensation. Remember that there are two vents on the roof, so the airflow is guaranteed. But the situation is quite different when it is raining; this design will simply not work for extended rain periods. When testing, we read a fair number of reviews where the expectations of tents may be more than is typically reasonable for the product.
James has been escaping to the outdoors for as long as he can remember. This first started in family camping trips but soon turned into adventure camps and hiking through the Scottish Hebrides. Now he has turned towards trying to make camping more comfortable and accessible.
This tent has an integrated rain fly, and could have been stuffy without a lot of thoughtful attention to ventilation. It had a ton of great online reviews and video bloggers hailed it as one of the best family tents for the price. The rain fly is a cinch to connect and, what’s more, the open roof makes this a dreamy tent for gazing up at the stars or at a tree canopy. Our son loved hanging out in it when we tested it in our front yard, which is a testimony to its excellent ventilation.
But with a family-size tent, you can camp in groups, whether you’re traveling with your in-laws, your spouse and kids, your favorite friends or a combination of all of the above. With tents readily available coleman ice chest to sleep two or more families, you can turn your camping excursion into an outing to remember. Last year I bought a Coleman 8 Man Instant Tent, since I usually camp alone it looked like a good product.
It’s probably a better option if there will be two people or more sleeping in the same tent. No, the tent does not have any vestibules to keep your muddy boots and outdoor clothing, etc. The key factor in the simple set-up procedure is the pole system, which comes attached to the tent. A zipper cuff is an attention to detail which protects the door from the prevailing weather. Ditto the last two reviews — the tent is great but Coleman NEEDS to re-engineer the crappy plastic corner pieces.
Available in various sizes and configurations, there’s a perfect size for solo camping, lightweight four wheel drive touring as well as for weekend getaways and family camping. Because the Coleman 2 person instant tent is so small it actually does pretty well in cold weather. I’ve been able to borrow the 4 person version from family and it was much nicer for two people. That being said for one person the 2 person pop up tent is absolutely perfect, and it’s a great size for kids.
Second, this is a tent for car camping, so you are not supposed to carry it long distances. The same is with its height; the tent with such huge straightened walls is an obstacle for winds so rather use a dome tent if you expect very windy situations in your outdoor adventure. See how this tent compares with two other cabin type tents, to see more please follow the links, they are described in separate reviews.
If you are planning on doing some full winter camping I would suggest getting a more specialized tent for winter camping. I’ve used mine in a few rainstorms and there was even a little flooding, everything inside the tent stayed nice and dry. There is also a small mesh panel on the roof under the cover so you can see the stars at night. It weighs around 4 lbs so it’s very portable and easy to carry around. The Abco is a very simple pop up tent that is more of a rectangle shape than the Coleman.
The connections and hinges for instant tent poles are often vulnerable to breaking or bending in heavy wind. If you do want a sleeping bag, however, a quick review of the Monarch Sleeping Bag tells me it’s comfortable and fit for all conditions in your 6 person instant tent.
