These bikes are strong enough for smooth landings on race and pump tracks but will not take the abuse that a freestyle bike would in concrete skateparks. If you’re looking to set fast lap times or begin your competitive career on the track, a race bike is the right choice. Sunday’s Primer can take you all the way to serious skatepark riding; riders between five to six feet tall will likely find exactly what they need with this bike. It features an Odyssey Springfield brake system, Path Pro tires, and a super durable hi ten steel frame for eating those inevitable spills. The bike is also backed by Sunday’s lifetime warranty for protection against defects. Sunday is one of the most recommended BMX bikes for first-time riders, and just like its name states, it’s a solid primer to the sport.

Whether you need a well priced bike to get you on the track with the kids or you are looking for something that you can upgrade as budget allows the Mongoose Title Elite is definitely worth a look. As soon as these hit the ground there were proud owners upgrading their parts to build some very impressive bikes. I’m surprised we didn’t see more of it here in Australia to be honest. Born out of a garage in SoCal back in 1974, Mongoose is synonymous with BMX.
Despite ‘amusingly’ saying A+E in the headline of this review, the Mongoose Fireball Moto never caused me to visit the hospital. Myself and others certainly had a few cuts and grazes from thrills ‘n’ spills but that’s par for the course. It’s been impressive how grab-and-go the bike has been throughout the time I’ve had it. I suppose a key question with bikes like these is whether the £500+ could be better spent on something else? It will totally depend on your personal circumstances. For me, as a parent living in pumptrackland, it’s been a bike that I’ve used – and enjoyed – a lot more than I expected it to.
Both of those ideas being somewhat related to riding another bike to ‘help’ your performance when you get back on your normal mountain bike. BIkes like the Mongoose Fireball Moto are close enough to a mountain bike so as not to be wholly perplexing (like an actual BMX is) but different enough to be interesting. This bike is the sort of machine that aging BMXers acquire because they can’t help themselves.
Exceptionally well-designed, the Vado 4.0 has an SRAM NX, 11-speed drivetrain, powerful SRAM Level brakes, and an SR Suntour Mobie A32 suspension fork for a smooth feel. Power settings are adjustable via an easy-to-manage phone app, plus all of the needed accessories for commuting—rack, fenders, and lights—come standard. While the Vado is pricier than some other bikes in the class, it has a refined feel, a strong global dealer network in case of motor issues, and is a thrilling e-bike to ride. This complete BMX build is one of the cheapest, and with a few minor upgrades, it can be your go-to ride. It’s got a treadless sealed integrated headset, aluminum U-brake and brake levers, removable brake mounts, and an ultra-durable steel frame.
The Ace is Priority’s fixie with a touch of class. It’s designed for commuters who like a little pep in their daily ride but aren’t fans of bike maintenance. Recreational-focused riders will do fine with the easier gear ratio and budget-friendly parts of the $499 Ace of Clubs (which also comes in a Pantone limited edition for a fifty bucks more). Performance-minded riders will appreciate the Ace of Spades for its carbon fork and seatpost, and higher gear ratio.
City, urban, commuter, cargo, utility, folding, and e-fill in the blank—call it what you will. Your commuter bike has a job to do, and only you know what that job entails. Explore trails that aren’t on the app but clearly exist
