Suddenly I was spending hours if not days less time in my car, and more on a bike. I won’t pretend that exercise was a factor here — the e-bike does 95% of the work schwinn ebike for you — but I’ll argue with any doctor that some peddling is better than sitting on my butt in a car. When you’re a parent of two who works from home, this sort of quick trip to the store can happen fairly often.
The one thing I was conflicted about was how bright the blue LED lights were. The Schwinn GSE or “GSElectric” is an electric bike that was sold from 2007 to 2009 in a couple of different forms. There was a cruiser style frame and the city commuter “World” setup you see here.
Once the controller is turned on, you will be able to use the motor, lights, and other electric functions. Turning takes a little bit to get used to as it is a little more top-heavy than a regular bike with the battery. After a few minutes it’s just like riding a normal bike.
All the parts fitted well and the wheel and spacers fitted perfectly. Once put together, the cables were routed and the bike was ready to ride. And good customer support when I had a a couple of questions. The Swytch 2A charger can top up your battery by 10 miles range for every hour of charging time. For more on the Schwinn Ebike, use our contact form to get in touch with us, or visit our website Prime EBike to read about more electric bikes we have for sale and rental. The bike offers a smooth, comfortable ride, enough assist options to either get a workout or just cruise, and has plenty of range to get me around town.
Many of the other wires, for the electric assist and control systems, are internally routed through the frame. This design choice makes the bike look nice and provides good protection. I love how the battery pack slides out to the right vs. mounting down from the top and appreciate the three-bolt design of the track, which provides more strength where it attaches to the frame. It’s a nice pack for being on such a cheap bike… and batteries tend to be some of the most expensive parts of electric bicycles.
This keeps the rear wheel attached, and also prevents someone from biking off with it. It’s no substitute for a chain, but in a friendly community (such as a retirement community on a lake somewhere), it’s probably good enough. Downsides include complexity, lack of repairability, and adequate braking at best if you have hills. The braking feel is also very springy – there’s no real feedback in the lever, just an increasing force that goes all the way to the bars, and increases braking effort.
It’s got 3 buttons, up down and a power/enter button in the middle. The battery is a 288 watt-hour battery built with cells which takes about 4 hours to charge. The Marshall looks like a mountain bike with a comfy cruiser feel to it. A step-thru version offers a slightly lower top bar than the regular version.
