An 8.5 mile paved Hike-Bike Trail traverses the picturesque landscapes that circle Kent Lake. Martindale Beach has family changing rooms and outdoor shower facilities available.
Playground features include sensory-friendly equipment, transfer-stations onto the playscape, spaces for quiet independent play, dignity landings on slides and more. Suggested parking is the van accessible parking spaces and utilizing the accessible walkways on the side. We’re adding new accessible picnic tables and grills to several picnic shelters throughout the park system. Work continues on installation of new concrete grill pads and securing picnic tables in arrangements that allow for unobstructed movement around them. Picnic shelter rental information will be updated on our website as changes are made.
Jono then worked with the Women’s Endurance program at Cycling New Zealand before taking the opportunity to be the head coach for Cycling Canada’s Men’s Endurance team. He secured achievements such as a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and qualified the first Canadian Men’s Team Pursuit to the Olympics in 45 years. All traffic will be shifted to Staten Island-bound with two lanes in each direction. This street will be closed from 8 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 6 pm Sunday through /4/24 to facilitate crane operation. Right lane in both directions will close Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and alternating center lane in either direction will close Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm through August 2, 2024, to facilitate machinery repairs.
Faculty, staff and students collaborate at The Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence (ISPV). If you’re staying with us, you can ride directly from your cabin or campsite to the trail head. If you are coming for the day, there is plenty of parking at the trail head located near the General Store. If you happen to find that lot is full, additional parking is available nearby on Hoskins Gap Road. You can purchase your permit when you arrive at the General Store or online ahead of your visit to save time.
Killens Pond is the perfect place to kayak, canoe, boat, or peddleboat. Watch for resident nesting bald eagles overhead or perched in the tall pines along the ponds edge. Head towards the Murderkill River for a terrific paddle, and watch for a small stand of baldcypress trees. Rentals require a $1,600 damage deposit on any type of credit card before taking the machine out for some fun! A 72 hour cancellation policy prior to rental date is in effect at the time of rental. In the event of a cancellation or rescheduling, a $25 fee will be processed.

Bundle up and enjoy a few hours ice-fishing on Kent Lake at Kensington Metropark. Popular access points to Kent Lake include the West Boat Launch and Turtlehead picnic area. Winter catches include bluegill, black crappies, yellow perch and the occasional northern pike. The Black Locust disc golf course is located off a gravel lot across from the Martindale Beach parking lot. The course is open year-round during park hours and is not lit at night. The playground has play features for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12.
