Even if you clean the grill thoroughly afar each use I would still recommend the Cargo Protector cover. We had to travel about 50 yards in the unkempt grass to reach where we wanted to settle in and the huge plastic wheels made pulling the grill effortless. As we’ve come to expect from Weber, The Traveler is a very intentionally built grill that checks all the boxes in terms of quality. Every item was packaged and protected well inside the main vessel of the grill.
The grill has an area where you can put veggies so they won’t fall through the grates. We have cooked burgers, wings, grilled potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and shish kabobs with onions and mushrooms. The Weber Traveler grill is easy to assemble, and you can start cooking in just 15 minutes. The only part of the assembly that requires some effort is fixing the wheels. What sets the Traveler apart from other grills is the fact that it can be folded up and laid flat or stood upright, making it easy to store and transport. You can easily wheel it to your desired cooking spot, whether it is for outdoor cooking in the backyard or for an al fresco cooking experience while on the road in your RV or car.
Certain custom-finished products and other items will ship factory direct from the manufacturer when necessary and can take additional time to process. If you enjoy doing anything in the great outdoors and have always wanted to bring delicious food to the table (pun intended) then the is a no-brainer. Whether it’s at the lake, the park, the game or even at home, this is an enjoyable and functional gas grill that anyone can use. Cooking the food was very much like cooking on my other Weber at home. I fit a full 10 pack of burgers that took minutes to get to medium-rare.

At 1,300 BTUs, the Weber has a good punch of power for a portable grill so I expected some serious heat. The internal temp quickly rose to just about 500 degrees F with the lid closed but didn’t exceed that temp. Worth noting that 500 is a good mark to hit for high-heat grilling — things like steaks, burgers and in my case, tuna. The tuna steaks and sausages I plunked down on the grill grates got a nice sear with pretty grill marks in about 10 minutes (five on each side). The 49-pound is a large, heavy-weight standing grill, which makes it difficult to compete against the more petite grills in our lineup. However, the designers at Weber truly put a lot of thought into the ease of transport by including a mechanism that allows for a slow lowering into a compact position.
