In our Lab tests, it proved to have powerful suction, picking up dry oats from our test carpets and hard flooring easily. One of our consumer testers used this vacuum right after another model and found that it picked up debris that the first vacuum missed. We also found it easy to maneuver and transition from carpet to hard floors, thanks to its large wheels.

It also doesn’t have the longest cord, limiting the reach and general user-friendliness. If you are only looking to clean up pet hair and are hoping for an inexpensive upright to do it with, then the CleanView Swivel might be a decent choice. However, this isn’t the use case for most people, and this vacuum’s mediocre hard floor and carpet cleaning performance makes us reticent to recommend it. As far as our performance measurement on carpets is concerned, we also do a deep clean test. In this test, we embed sand deep into medium-pile carpet and see how much of it the vacuum can pick up.

BISSELL is an American manufacturer of vacuum cleaners and floor care appliances. They offer a diverse selection of vacuum cleaners, ranging from compact handheld cordless vacuums to bulky corded uprights and everything in between. Most of their offerings are somewhat budget-friendly and use bagless designs, meaning that recurring costs tend to be pretty low. That said, quite a few of their more compact offerings struggle with clearing bulky debris, while their bigger corded uprights generally feel somewhat cheap. The Bissell CleanView Pet Slim is a cordless stick vacuum that doubles as a handheld cleaner, by simply removing the wand and cleaning head from the main unit. It offers two levels of suction, along with a 0.1-gallon / 0.5-liter dust canister, which is relatively easy to empty.

Like many other models from the brand, Bissell’s Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus did not disappoint our testers — in fact, it’s one of the best Bissell vacuums we’ve ever tested in our Lab. The floor nozzle also contains a tangle-free brush roll that prevents pet hair from clogging the bristles. The BISSELL CleanView/CleanView Swivel Pet Rewind is a much better upright vacuum for cleaning pet hair than the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus. The CleanView Swivel is easier to maintain and can pick up pet hair on all surface types. It also has a significantly better performance on bare floors and a slightly better performance on low-pile carpets. However, the Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus uses a HEPA filter, has a much better performance on high-pile carpets, is significantly easier to maneuver, and feels better built.

This leaves an obvious pattern as to where the vacuum isn’t picking up any debris; you can see this in greater detail here. It has a fairly wide footprint, but luckily, you can attach the crevice tool and the upholstery/soft bristle brush directly to the vacuum. The ‘Rewind’ variants have an automatic cord retraction system, but you’ll have to wind the cord back manually on ‘Plus’ models. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 is a better upright vacuum than the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus.

The Pet Hair Eraser uses a three-layered filter that you can wash and reuse to keep suction power going strong. Pet owners aren’t the only people who need carpet cleaning tools that can work for multiple surfaces. Similar to the original Bissell Little Green, the portable Little Green Hydrosteam is a multi-tasking machine. bissell crosswave cordless Not only does it deep clean carpet and upholstery, but it also includes a hard surface cleaning tool for tile or hardwood floors. You have mostly carpetThis vacuum impressed in particular for dust pick-up on carpet, although its weight meant it squashed cereal on hard floors, creating more dirt than it collected.

The CleanView Swivel is an inexpensive vacuum and an okay option for cleaning pet hair. However, if you are looking for a more general-purpose cleaning tool, you’re better off looking elsewhere. This vacuum also didn’t do particularly well with larger types of debris either, struggling to pick up items like Cheerios. We found that it was hard to set the vacuum height to effectively pick up larger and smaller types of messes on the carpet.

That said, this vacuum can be difficult to maintain, and there are frequent recurring costs for replacing its filters. The only flaw I found while using this machine for several months, was the 4-foot hose. Honestly, it could use a few more feet to reach the back of a tall chair, upholstered headboard or deep couch. Another downside is that the hose doesn’t swivel at the base, and as a result, I spent a lot of time adjusting the angle of the machine for a comfortable reach.
