With real-time food monitoring and flip and serve notifications, integrated WEBER CONNECT smart technology guarantees that everything you grill is cooked to perfection. Every Genesis model comes with hooks for grilling tools and grates for greater convenience as your cook. For even more storage solutions, look for Genesis models with storage lockers. The new Weber Genesis range is designed to give grill masters more space to cook and prep, reducing the need to make frequent trips to the kitchen.
To help you prepare, cook, and serve entire meals in your outdoor space, Weber extended the right side table on all GENESIS models to an 18” length and added a flush design. This change creates 35% more prep and serve space, with enough room for two cutting boards or serving trays at once! It’s just another way that Weber helps you stay where the party is. The Monument rotisserie kit is specifically designed for gas grills up to a 29 in. By adding a rotisserie kit to your Monument gas grill you can roast a whole chicken, pork loin, beef roasts and much more.
By contrast the Char-Broil SmartChef app usually lost temperature probe data if I closed it or simply opened another application on my phone (a Google Pixel XL). Another advantage the iGrill app has over SmartChef is a simple wizard to setup probes to actively monitor your food while it cooks. For example, you can select the food type (chicken, burgers, steak and so on) and iGrill knows what target temperature you need to hit.
The Weber Genesis E-325s is a whole foot longer than the company’s Spirit II E-310, with 20% more cooking area. It also puts out more heat per square inch than our top pick, thanks to a fourth burner—placed between the middle and right-side burners—that creates what Weber dubs the Sear Zone. The Genesis E-325s also has roomier side tables, including one big enough to fit a half sheet pan.
For that reason, Weber offers generous warranties; years for the cookbox on almost all their full-sized models. Other grill parts, like the knobs, grates, and burner tubes have slightly shorter warranties, ranging from three to 10 years. I draped the ribs across the Genesis II’s metal warming tray that sits above the grill grates. Finally I dialed all three burner knobs down to their lowest setting and closed the lid. I cooked two racks this way; the first I ran for 3 hours, the second for 3 hours 30 minutes.
On paper, the Rogue 425 has a lot going for it, but we were disappointed in its performance. Despite showing heat at 650 °F on our burger test, it failed to achieve a good sear; the grill also struggled to hold a steady temperature on our barbecue-chicken test. Napoleon’s signature is its wavy grates, and they do look cool, but they’re harder to clean than straight grates. Weber added weber natural gas grill two new models to its Spirit line of gas grills in 2020, but we ultimately chose not to test them. One of them, the Spirit S-315, is similar to our top pick, the Spirit II E-310, but has a few cosmetic differences, such as a stainless steel lid and metal dials. In our eyes, the S-315 seemed likely to perform about the same as our pick—and did not seem worth the higher price.
But I’d happily trade many of the bells and whistles of the LX line for a grill that can give me a blistering sear and enough power to keep the indirect cooking temps dependable. Only by hopscotching the food around the grill grate could I come up with something close to an even sear. This grill’s burners go to 11, but that’s still not high enough.
This meant when you did direct/vs indirect cooking your zones would be front/back. We’ve long recommended Weber’s charcoal kettle grill to anyone looking for a phenomenal cooker at a reasonable price point. But our recent gas grill testing proved Weber is a powerhouse in that department, too (four out of six of our winners in our gas grill test were Webers). If you’re looking to buy on a budget, and/or favor a smoky flavor and scent while grilling, consider Weber’s charcoal grill options. If efficiency is on your list of grilling must-haves, consider a gas grill, which takes less time to heat up. One of the best ways to test a grill’s capabilities is setting it up for two-zone grilling.
To keep your grill in tip-top shape—quite possibly for years after its decade-long warranty expires—be sure to clean it regularly and thoroughly. To some extent, all grills run cooler toward the front of the grate, but in our tests the Spirit II E-310 offered the most consistent heating across the entire grate surface. After 10 minutes, the burgers at the rear, the hottest part of the grill, were medium-well, and those at the front were medium-rare to medium.
