Freestyle & Race

Components that are not suitable for your level of riding can wear or fail much sooner than expected. Although BMX bikes can look very similar, under the surface components and materials used can vary greatly. If you are looking to into BMX racing and you’re in the market for a new bike, you don’t want to go entry level but you don’t want to over commit either, the Mongoose Title mongoose dirt bike Elite could be exactly what you are looking for. The Mongoose Title Elite is a great place to start with plenty of potential. At first glance the Mongoose Title Elite is a nice looking bike out of the box. Some of the key features include; BB86 bottom bracket shell, tapered headtube, lightweight 6061 butted alloy frame, 4130 cromo forks and bars, 24mm 2 piece alloy cranks.

This bike forces Aventon’s competition to get on their level. The Mongoose Legion 16 is a solid BMX bike for kids 3-feet-6-inches and under who need a 16-incher that can take a beating. The Legion 16 is simple to assemble and features gyro brakes for easy handlebar spins, loose-ball bottom brackets, and comfy grips. Made with rigid steel, it is also heavy, even for a BMX bike. But weight aside, Mongoose is one of the most trusted brands for children. Replace some of its stock parts—users say the seatpost and brakes are necessary swaps—and your kid’s got a trusty BMX bike.

Users say this bike is an easy upgrade and only needs a few minor tweaks, though some had issues with its freecoaster sticking and say it needs more grease for better fakes. Freestyle bikes are designed for the skatepark, the streets or the trails. They are constructed from strong, hard wearing materials and usually feature Steel or Chromoly frames. This means that the bike can stand up to a certain amount of impacts and hard landings, but remember no bike is indestructible.

They can try and rationalise it as a ‘skills sharpener’ or a bike to ride when it’s not suitable to ride a mountain bike (whenever that might be). The Mongoose Fireball Moto is ready for any dirt jumps, pump tracks or big-wheeled street riding you can throw at it. Beefy 650b x 2.3-inch tires roll smoothly on the road but come to your rescue when the pavement gets sketchy, or a gravel detour piques your curiosity. From across the street you might easily mistake the Loft 7D for a 1970’s vintage Schwinn or Raleigh, but when you get up close you will see it is a thoroughly modern around town bike.

Sporting the brand’s signature Lefty fork, the Bad Boy 3 stands out from the crowd, featuring a fully blacked-out look designed to blend in. It’s an exciting mix, but works perfectly for the Bad Boy. Other features include a Shimano Altus 2×8-speed drivetrain that provides a wide gear range, powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and 650b wheels that blend mongoose racing bike durability and speed. You might find you’ll want to upgrade to something lighter sooner than you’d think. If you are planning on using the bike in rain or bad weather, we do strongly advise choosing a model with fully sealed bearings all round. Mongoose was born from BMX racing with products that push the limits of what a rider can do on the track.

Mongoose designs BMX Freestyle and BMX Race bikes for riders of all ages and ability levels, and our bikes are trusted by some of the world’s best riders. To be frank, I think it’s a good idea to not to overly bothered about the bike and the parts that it’s built up with. Apart from the suspension fork, I don’t think think there’s any component on this bike that would be significantly improved by an upgrade. The bike is not a comfy or easy-going experience. Which is not so much a criticism, it’s more of an observation of the way things inherently are on playbikes like these. Today, we are looking, specifically at the Pro, Pro XL and Pro XXL models.
