Despite what you might expect, this e-bike cruiser actually has great performance capabilities, including a 45-mile range powered by a 313 Wh battery that is more powerful than the Marshall’s. Seeing as the only opportunity for a test ride within 100 miles was only 5 miles away, I dropped in for a visit. Unfortunately, Schwinn doesn’t outfit the Monroe 250 with any accessories you’d typically want for commuting, such as fenders or racks. To be fair, not many competing e-bikes tend to come with these extras anyway, so with its comparatively low price, you’ll have extra money to pick out the accessories you want. I’d like to see an ebike have a powered tail light so I don’t have to remember to test the batteries. I’m assuming with the design it’s tough to power anything on the back without a rack. The riding position schwinn ebike is comfortably upright but still able to lean into things off-road. It still lets you stand if you’re trying to get up a particularly steep part of a hill or over a rough section on the trail.
The control panel design used on this electric is incredibly simple and streamlined. Once the battery pack has been filled and properly mounted to the frame, you just hold the power button on the control pad near the left grip, and it blinks to life with a little dance of lights. There are two menus here, the left chart shows five dots that indicate 0-5 level of pedal assist. The higher you go, the zippier and faster the motor will spin but it will also draw more power, depleting your battery more quickly. The second chart is a battery level indicator showing five dots, each representing a 20% drop.
