Schwinn Electric Bikes Review Ride or Pass?

By default, the console shows the battery left, speed, total distance and pedal assist level. The up and down are mostly for adjusting the pedal assist levels up and down. The motor stops assisting when you hit 32 km/h (20mph) with the throttle or pedalling. For most of my riding around trails and small paths in the city, the 32 km/h motor limit is plenty.

A removable battery allows extra batteries to be used, extending the range of the bike. The 280Wh battery gives enough juice for up to 25miles, which might not seem much, but it’s perfect for weekend adventures. Lastly, the Marshall comes with integrated LED frame light and headlight, but with just a battery taillight. The included kickstand is also nice because it mounts near the back wheel so it doesn’t get in the way when you need to back the bike up while the kickstand is down. Anyone who has tried to back up a bike while the pedals are locked with the kickstand will appreciate what I’m talking about. It looks just odd enough for drivers to take a second look in a “what the heck is that thing?

Now, the Healy Ridge bikes are not what we’re used to seeing when it comes to electric mountain bikes, but they are perfect for beginners. Schwinn offers a mid-range hybrid electric bike in the Coston CE, with components, features, and capabilities in between the Marshall and the Coston DX. Sharing the same 288 Wh battery as the Marshall, the Coston CE has a 35-mile range and can hit a top speed of 20mph. There are no fenders or a rear rack on the Marshall, which is one of the biggest differences between this Schwinn electric bike and the Schwinn Coston electric bike.

Most ebikes just have a big battery hanging off the bottom tube. The middle power/enter button turns the bike on while holding it. The battery has to be on before turning the bike on which got me the first time I tried. The Marshall looks like a mountain bike with a comfy cruiser feel to it.

The Exchange sells and handles payments for this item, and you can track the status on your Exchange order details page. It’s basically the Goldilocks option, offering enough performance and functionality for everyday commuters without pushing the price too high. From our humble beginning in 1895 to now, quality has been Schwinn’s “North Star”. We honor our heritage while looking forward to the next innovation, and the next adventure.

The bike arrived in a standard bike box, but that was housed within an even larger outer box to protect the contents. It took me about an hour to unpack the bike, remove all the protective packaging and then assemble it. The one potential problem is the weight of the bike, with the rear hub motor (from CZJB motor maker) and the in-frame battery already in place. In my case, I left it outside the box and had no trouble installing the front wheel.

When I first started riding electric Schwinns, I was largely limited to cruiser e-bikes. But with several new commuter-specific e-bikes like the Schwinn Coston CE that I recently tested, this household bicycle name is making a big move on the wider e-bike market. When it comes to buying things in the 21st century, we seem to have an embarrassment of riches.

If you’re over 6′, you probably already know that less than 15 percent of the American population is as tall as you. You also know first-hand how difficult it is to find pants, a comfortable bed or a bike. But don’t worry, The Coston CE is the best electric bike for tall riders. You schwinn dealers can read more about it here, or head over to Aventon’s sales page to browse more models. I’d like to see an ebike have a powered tail light so I don’t have to remember to test the batteries. I’m assuming with the design it’s tough to power anything on the back without a rack.

After leaving the cemetery, I pedaled a county road that unrolls over five hilltops with valleys in between. On the downhills, I went to 0 assist and flew down, hitting 36 mph on one of them. In each case I pedaled unassisted part way up the next climb, moving to a numbered assist level only when gravity began to bite. In 2019, the company finally entered the electric bike market with a line of Schwinn eBikes for every type of rider.
