As with the Day One, there are mudguards, rear pannier rack, and an internally geared rear hub for all weather dependability. Some adventures are about taking your time and drinking in your surroundings, others are about getting there fast. This bike is genesis bicycles designed for lightweight bike-packing, able to tackle ultra-distances on mixed terrain. Essentially an aluminium version of the Croix de Fer, the CDA features a similar plethora of mounts and wide clearances but comes in at a significantly lower price. Part of this is down to the different frame material, but cheaper components are also a factor.

Its 1×9 drivetrain keeps things simple, while the swept back riser bars give the rider a more upright position. Genesis produces bikes for all cycling disciplines, including road, mountain, cyclocross, gravel/adventure and commuting. genesis bicycles The greatest restriction on how fast you can go when pinning singletrack is the tyres, yes they are fast rolling but they lack bite, something with greater cornering grip would certainly show off bikes handling better.

These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental team Madison Genesis. The frame has internally routed cables for better aerodynamics genesis bike and a wide section down tube for better torsional stiffness. If you’re in the market for a more porteur-style bike, the Brixton is where Croix de Fer meets cargo.

Although the frame is steel, it’s relatively lightweight with a carbon fork and no excess components weighing it down. Due to being disc brake only, the bridge between the seatstays could be removed. This further increases mud clearance and also adds to the frame’s compliance, providing better control. Definitely not a versatile bike; this is designed with only CX racing in mind and makes no compromises – except for, perhaps, its two sets of bottle bosses. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here.

The Genesis™ bicycle rack has the simple “floating” concentric rings that look like an attractive outdoor sculpture. When full, these same concentric rings park bikes safely and securely. The Genesis™ offers two contact points, at front and rear, for locking.

The Core range is based around a 6061 aluminium tube set that is butted where needed with some gentle manipulation to ovalise the down tube as it meets the seat tube at the bottom bracket shell. There are strengthening gussets where the down tube and top tube meet the tapered head tube and the seat stays are an old school wishbone style, the lack of a bridge gives ample mud clearance. The angles are steep, the front end is low and there aren’t mudguard or pannier mounts. 33c tyres are specced (the maximum permitted in UCI sanctioned cyclocross races), while the maximum tyre size recommend is 35c. For those interested in dipping their toes into racing, or just want a sportier feeling bike, the Zeal range is Genesis’ entry level carbon option.
