It’s a little bit bling but positivly understated compared to Blytheys.. Which lets be honest, would have been ‘pretty trick’ if he’d not let a pissed up Rob Hayes loose on it. The steel makes for a super comfortable ride, while the carbon reduces some of the weight. Ostensibly, this is a more budget-oriented version of the Vapour Carbon. The aluminium frame is cheaper, although the fork is still carbon. Disc brakes remain present, but they have been changed to mechanical rather than hydraulic. The drivetrain is still a performance oriented 1×11 set up and, in all, this is still a competitive racing machine. The angles are steep, the front end is low and there aren’t mudguard or pannier mounts.
That innovative approach takes inspiration from beyond the realm of conventional two-wheelers, drawing from the designs of high-performance cars. It doesn’t just adopt design principles known in the bicycle industry but also benefits from Aston Martin’s know-how in the supercar and hypercar programs. This can be seen, for example, in the pierced stem, which mirrors the side strake of the Aston Martin DB12. Customers will have a choice between 12-speed groupsets from companies like Shimano, Campagnolo, and Sram Red. Specialized also launched a Peter Sagan collection with a largely gold frameset a few years ago. The frame appears to be a Genesis Zero Disc – a model that’s no longer in the range – that has had an extension up front.
These are Genesis’ entry-level road bikes and are the cheapest in their range. The geometry is a little more upright, making for a more comfortable and less twitchy genesis mountain bike ride. There are mounts for mudguards and a pannier rack, which expands the range of use from just road riding to commuting and even lightweight cycle touring.
You’ll find a range of materials used in Genesis bikes, though the brand is well loved for its steel offerings. During the cycling season we get about a dozen calls a day from people with a Genesis brand bicycle. We’ve got to say, though, that we’ve never seen anything like genesis mountain bike the head tube on Adam Blythe’s bike. The maximum tyre size on bike is 28c, typical for rim brake set ups but relatively narrow for a bike with discs. But for races that are solely on roads, this should be more than adequate.
