A bike should sit flush with the floor; most of the bike models we tested had leveling feet, which helped to provide an even base. The water-bottle holders were the nicest among those on bikes in our test pool, sturdily made and positioned conveniently within the handlebars. The seat is a slim racing style, and although it didn’t differ drastically from most of the others we perched on, it wasn’t quite as comfortable initially (but we warmed to it). One former Peloton Bike owner told us that, at 5-foot-1, she struggled with fit even after moving the bike’s seat all the way forward. You can find extenders, made by companies unaffiliated with Peloton, that are intended to rectify the issue (we have not tried them).

18-speed Shimano drivetrain and SX19 rim alloy disc hubs provide great performance. Attaching the pedals was more challenging, however—and not just because they’re reverse-threaded on one side. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with Schwinn’s customer service department and they ultimately fixed the problem by sending a replacement bike. It also has a better warranty than most bikes we tested—10 years on the frame, three years on the parts, and one year on labor. (Peloton’s warranty, by comparison, only covers five years for the frame and one year for the parts.) The factory that produced the iconic Schwinn Paramount racing bikes has solidified its place near the top of the US bicycle manufacturing industry. Triple Link Pedals accommodate Look, Delta and SPD style cleats to simulate an outdoor riding experience. They easily convert to accept traditional athletic shoes with the snap-in locking toe clips.
Unlike Peloton and some Echelon Connect bikes, the Schwinn IC4 doesn’t have its own video screen—just a small LCD display that shows your ride time, distance, RPMs, and heart rate, plus a USB charging port. You can also use your smartphone, but I think a bigger screen makes for a more schwinn tricycle enjoyable experience.
