Each of the cabin’s three rooms includes its own privacy divider, and each is large enough to fit a queen-sized mattress as well, so it’s a great option for large groups or families. Other perks of the Three Room Instant Cabin include an instant tent design with pre-attached poles for easy set-up and dual ground-level vents designed to work with a tent air conditioner. This tent has a private room that features an open cabin with an extra attached back room. Tents can be a pain to set up in the best of conditions, but what about when it’s dark, cold, and rainy?
I like my tents to have a denier over 100, but for light/moderate use, something around 50 works well too. If you’re looking to save money but still want that cabin tent experience, the Ozark Trail 10-Person Two-Room Cabin is tough to beat. If you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks (emphasis on few), the Ozark Trail 9-Person Cabin with a screen room gives some added livability at a similar price point. Second, Ozark Trail tents are affordable because they use very basic materials.
ozark trail instant cabinMake the most of your next camping adventure with the Ozark Trail 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent. The Ozark Trail 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent sets up in under two minutes! This 12-person tent requires no assembly because the poles are pre-attached to the tent; just unfold and extend. This three-room, cabin-style tent has large windows on all sides and room to stand up.
There is a large double size door with 2 zippers so you can open it from any of the two front rooms. The back room is without its own external door, but there is a window on the back, see the picture. This is why I have added this tent to my list of camping tents with closets. The packed size is typical for the instant tents, and one dimension is relatively long, 48 x 10 x 10 in (122 x 25 x 25 cm). With that being said, Ozark Trail does a good job of seam-sealing their tents from the factory in most cases, and with a little help, these budget-shelters can keep you dry when unexpected rain hits.
ozark trail canopy tentThe last thing you want to do is fumble around with an excessive number of poles and 20 pounds of tent material.Ozark Trail tents tend to be quite large, and large tents can be frustrating to put together. However, the manufacturers seemed to be aware of this, which is why they created most Ozark Trail tents with an instant design. Unroll the tent fabric on the ground, and pop everything into place in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t get much easier than that, and when you’re working with something as large as a 14 person tent, you’ll be very glad to have the convenience. We love the center height, at 7 feet and with a cabin design, it creates these huge interiors that feel like a house when you’re inside. Then when you’re inside its got a ton of cool features that help group camping and support the extra gear you’ll be taking.
Looking at the poles, your options come down to steel, aluminum, and fiberglass, ranked from strongest to weakest in the order they’ve been listed. However, the quality of the tent fabric itself is a little less straightforward. The durability of fabric is measured using denier. Since denier is an indicator of the thickness of the thread used in a material, it follows that the higher the denier, the more resilient the fabric is.
As a disclaimer, none of the Ozark Trail tents are going to be light enough for backpacking. Most of them come in somewhere between pounds, which is reasonable considering the sizes of the shelters, but still a bit excessive to carry long distances. So, this tent brand is for car campers only. Depending on your fitness level and the number of people helping you, it’s certainly possible to carry one of these tents a mile or so. However, I’d try to keep your campsite close to your car, so that you don’t have to make multiple trips across long stretches of trail. Ozark Trail only makes large tents, and it usually goes without saying that no one will stuff 12 people in a 12 person tent. Cabin tents with vertical walls allow you to get nice and close to the edges of the shelter, making the most of the available floor space.
Every year, thousands of new campers get their first taste of the outdoors in an Ozark Trail tent. Their combination of space and affordability catches the eye of many campers, but the details on these shelters can be lacking. If you’re considering an Ozark Trail yourself, you’re in the right place.
