The $499 Schwinn Axum Costs Less Than a Decent Fork, and Includes a Dropper Post Review

I did order and replace the seat with an oversized padded seat. It is so fun to ride, folds easily, and is exactly what I ordered. I am a grandma and I wanted to be able to ride with my grandkids. It pedals so easily, I hardly use the pedal assist but am glad it is there when I need it. Schwinn bikes are known for their excellent construction and high standards of quality.

The Ider features a Schwinn aluminum dual suspension frame and Schwinn suspension fork to soak up all the bumps on your next trail ride. This bike features Schwinn aluminum MTB frame with Schwinn suspension fork for all around fun out on the trail.

Schwinn bikes are made with high-quality materials that can last for years of use. The material used in these bikes is steel, aluminum alloy, and carbon fiber. Some models like the Dirt series and BMX bikes consist mainly of aluminum alloy and some plastic parts. THis bike has Suntour mongoose bmx gears and rear hub – these systems are not available anymore. THis means that when the chain starts skipping, you can’t just replace it. It will cost about $440 (shifters, cables, derailleurs, crank, BB, cassette, chain and rear wheel) plus labour – and the chain is very worn now.

Depending on where you live, you should be able to find a Schwinn High Sierra in decent condition for $100-$300. The High Sierra features a nice mix of high-end components from Shimano, Suntour, Dia-Compe, and other manufacturers of the day. The Chromoly steel frame, in particular, is of excellent quality.

The frame does have a tapered head tube, so if buyers happen to find a smoking-good deal on a fork upgrade it should fit. Shimano EZ-Fire shifters provide 21 speeds of pure excitement while linear-pull schwinn mountain bicycles brakes let you stop whenever you need to. You’ll love its lightweight yet durable alloy rims as well as its comfortable seat and wide padded saddle which makes even longer rides feel like a breeze.

When riding the High Sierra, the bike becomes easier to pedal when the peddles are horizontal. The Biopace crankset is meant to allow your feet to accelerate through the power stroke when you are pushing down on the pedal. Once you reached the ‘dead zone’ where the peddles are vertical, you would have built up enough momentum in your feet to carry you through the harder part of the stroke.

Stable hardtail suspension is created by the 150mm rear hub spacing and the bike’s internal cable routing creates clean lines and more protection. Generally, bigger wheels mean more grip and traction. More importantly, it helps to keep you safe from injuries as the forks absorb and minimize the impact of rough terrain. Yet, warranty terms generally vary, which is why it’s recommended that you always take good care of your bike even if it comes with a warranty.
