While I did like a lot of about the Incline, here were some things that detracted from the experience. After a lot of research, I had decided on the Schwinn Boundary, however once I arrived at the store the one I had just seen there had been genesis mountain bike bought, and I was left without a bike. Finally, the Columbia Rd is a beautiful step-through with a low maintenance and practical 8-speed internal hubgear. Perfect for pootling around town, plus the twin top tube adds a touch of elegance.
Its 1×9 drivetrain keeps things simple, while the swept back riser bars give the rider a more upright position. For commuters and city-dwellers, Genesis has several bikes to choose from. Genesis has a lot of bikes in its ‘other’ category, so we’ve broken them down into Adventure, Cyclocross and Urban.
Watch and learn which options are best for your bike and your vehicle. The new mustard colourway was inspired (and featured in) by Pantone’s colour of the year 2023. In this case, it’s very much fashion meets function but sustainability hasn’t fallen by the wayside. This set is constructed using repurposed fabric to make use of unused materials. It is always a blessing to the ministry to see how God has significantly impacted the users we serve for nearly three decades. To hear from the mouths of those who utilize what we offer every day is something that cannot be replaced.
However it was getting late in the year, so I wanted to bike before the snow came, so I bought it. The Tour de Fer is a steel touring-specific bike with a longer, stable wheelbase, and comes complete with mudguards and racks. The Mantle is the brand’s XC and endurance bike, and is a full carbon 29er hardtail with 100mm travel. The Montane Icemen (Pete Sissons and Paul Cosgrove) underlined the bikes capabilities as they used a pair of Croix de Fers to circumnavigate the 1600-mile coastline of Iceland in 14 days. And the Suspension fork with 80mm travel absorbs certain bumps, allowing me to enjoy the speed without having to deal too much with the soreness and numbness from the bumps.
On test, we found that the Sintesi provided good airflow and kept our head cool, although the 13 vents don’t offer anywhere to perch a pair of glasses. The XR uses Bell’s Float Fit system, that’s simple to use and is paired with a comfortable strap and magnetic buckle. Combined they allow for a stable genesis bike fit that adds to the helmet’s high level of comfort – the great ventilation and Iconic+ padding alone make it plenty comfy. The lightweight helmet uses the same Spherical MIPS protection as the Giro Aether, which isn’t the only way this lower price offering challenges its more expensive sibling.
Whilst we can’t vouch for the added watts this design certainly does provide really good airflow through the helmet. The Lazer Vento is designed as an aero helmet, so ventilation is somewhat sacrificed for speed. That said, this helmet still compares very favourably to other aero helmets with regards to keeping your head cool. Although we couldn’t test the aerodynamic qualities of this against other helmets, it did feel fast when putting our head down and over the course of the test loops we did. So you can rest assured that while it lacks weight, it doesn’t lack head impact protection. As for the frame, as mentioned, it’s made out of aluminum, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it isn’t packing some cutting-edge technology.
It is a little heavy to carry up stairs but other than that its a great looking and handeling bike. The greatest restriction on how fast you can go when pinning singletrack is the tyres, yes they are fast rolling but they lack bite, something with greater cornering grip would certainly show off bikes handling better. Set up was simple, the bike did come with a whole bunch of spacers below the stem, after less than 30 seconds on the bike I had these shuffled to get the front as low as possible and it was off to the trails.
Aero helmets will be wind tunnel tested, and will often provide a watt-saving figure as to how much energy can be retained thanks to the improved aerodynamics of the helmet. If you are wondering if you even need an aero lid, our page on Can an aero road helmet make you faster? To keep the weight as low as possible, the helmet doesn’t feature any additional safety features such as MIPS. There are other versions of the Ventral that do, but not with the Rapha special edition design.
Having a non-progressive spring rate means that it’s unlikely they’ll ever get the full travel out of either end. Compression isn’t adjustable, and rebound is exactly what one might expect from a spring. Out back, the four bar linkage looks the part, but the actual path of travel is an arc that wants to move the wheel forward as it goes upward. This results in poor handling, as the wheel cannot track over rough surfaces properly. The brakes are used with disc brakes on the front and rear of the bike, making for a nice look.
