Capture panoramic vistas as the boat meanders around the lake, among islands and bays, and hear stories about the history of Kensington Metropark. Chance upon mute swans, Canada geese, mallard ducks and cormorants and even an occasional osprey. And on a summer’s day, look for turtles basking in the sun. DEER RUN TRAIL – 1.5 MILES

Suggested parking is the van accessible parking spaces and utilizing the accessible walkways on the side. There are also some restrictions on fishing locations along shorelines near the main recreation area. Throughout the park, you’ll find observation and fishing decks providing easy access to open water.
These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. At least one lane of traffic in each direction and one sidewalk will be maintained at all times. Trail begins at the kent hybrid bike north park entrance and ends at Proud Lake State Recreation Area. All ground spray features and water cannons are accessible and located on a poured-in-place rubber surfacing.

The main recreation area of the park is closed in winter, but we do offer an off-season parking lot on the east side of Maynard Ave.

The trailhead at Butterworth and O’Brien is also open in the winter for parking. Please note that all restrooms in the park are closed between November 1 and April 30.
