The more compact throttle bodies made it possible to increase the air cleaner assembly’s capacity from 10.3 liters to 11.5 liters, increasing the air supply to the engine. The air cleaner has a rigid lid with a simplified internal structure that enhances the intake air sound quality. The fairing design permits high air flow through the radiator, increasing cooling efficiency as compared to the prior generation Hayabusa. Air flow is increased by 8% when the Hayabusa is in motion and is approximately 7% better when the cooling fan is moving air during low- to mid-speed riding.
