While they typically won’t have the level of performance of higher ends brands like Yeti, RTIC, Orca, etc., they have always struck a happy balance between cost and usability. So more realistically, aim for around 2 ½ to 3 days of ice if you fill it up 1/3 to ½ way. Since there is only one size to work with (70 quarts), we decided to vary how much ice we put inside.

are issued to the original form of payment; some exclusions may apply. Why we didn’t quite reach the 4-day mark that Igloo suggested, it wasn’t far off. Filling the cooler with ½ ice is pretty extreme, however. Most people aren’t going to use this much ice as it would take up way too much valuable storage volume.
The igloo trailmate 70 is the best rolling cooler for the money we have tested to date. This is a pretty bold statement considering we have reviewed a ton of wheeled coolers in the past. However, this claim is easily defended considering the superior ice retention and the included features/accessories. Our rugged Trailmate cooler has oversized, all-terrain wheels and a sturdy telescoping handle, so you can easily and smoothly roll it to your destination. You can easily take the Trailmate anywhere thanks to the telescoping lever that halves the towing weight.
For what it’s worth, this was one of our “fan favorites” among friends and family while we were conducting an ice retention test which included 25 different coolers. A quick look at the igloo soft cooler will reveal its’ unique stance. This is not a run of the mill budget cooler yet not a roto molded cooler, it falls somewhere in between. Though at first glance the Trailmate looks like a great deal, we’re not so sure. But if wheels and features are what you’re after and a budget is what you’re on, the Igloo might be the right fit for your life.
