Aside from not pushing poop across your floors, the Roomba J7 Plus excels at other things, too.
Aside from the adding mopping abilities, the Combo is basically just a Roomba j7+ and that’s not a bad thing. It’s been one of our favorite robot vacuums since it came out thanks to its improved obstacle avoidance, strong suction power, accurate home mapping technology and decent battery life. The iRobot mobile app, from which you can start and schedule jobs, edit your home map and more, is easy to use, and you can even control the machine using Alexa or Google Assistant commands. The hardest thing to swallow about it (besides how it sounds like a jet engine when emptying debris into the clean base) is its sky-high, $1,100 price tag.
The iLife V3s Pro is the best robot vacuum you can get for less than $200. Despite its low price, the V3s Pro consistently outperformed other robot vacuums that cost three times as much. It picked up nearly all of Fido’s fur in our lab tests — making it the best robot vacuum for pet hair — and was also good in our at-home tests, too. It was about average in terms of noise compared to the other robot vacuums on test, with 64.1dB. Plus it’s fast at mapping and the app is easy to navigate too — all at a great price. After days of testing, we compiled our results to find the best option for every circumstance.
If you’re using a standard charging base, you may have to fix it to the wall, so the robot vacuum won’t knock it out of place. If you’re lucky enough to own a robot vacuum with a self-emptying base, it should be heavy enough to hold itself in place. Although this does mean it will likely require more clearance space and will protrude further out from the wall as well. Also, unlike the iRobot vacuums, the Shark doesn’t have a self-empty automatic bin sensor. That means that it doesn’t know when its bin is full and will just keep going. However, it does place itself back on the dock accurately, you don’t need replacement bin bags, and the self-emptying does work, unlike some other robot vacuums I could mention (I’m looking at you, Yeedi).
