Cuisinart Digital AirFryer Toaster Oven

The TOA-65 made some of the most beautiful toast I have ever seen — evenly golden on the top and bottom. We tested multiple Cuisinart TOA models and found the TOA-65 to be a true kitchen workhouse. Reviewed’s mission is to help you buy the best stuff and get the most out of what you already own. Our team of product experts thoroughly vet every product we recommend to help you cut through the clutter and find what you need. The PureWow100 is a scale our editors use to vet new products and services, so you know what’s worth the spend—and what’s total hype.

We evaluate how evenly the oven toasts, how consistently it toasts and how much the low, medium and high settings differ from one another. After all, an air fryer toaster oven should be able to toast well, since it’s one of the most commonly used features. In April 2022, Best Buy recalled 770,000 Insignia air fryer models—including digital, analog, and air fryer toaster oven models—which amounts to roughly 3% of all air fryers sold in the US over the past two years. We haven’t tested (nor do we recommend) any Insignia air fryers for this guide, so the recall doesn’t affect our picks. For our original guide in 2017, we ran the air fryers through a series of tests, cooking frozen and hand-cut french fries, frozen finger foods, and pork chops.

Mostly that’s because of how tiny the holes in the wiring are, so it requires a detail-oriented attack. The downside, the manual warns, is that things may take longer to cook (though the lid has some holes in it, it’s essentially creating a barrier between your food and the appliance’s heating element and fan). I was initially skeptical about Cuisinart’s TOA-65 Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Its roughly 17 x 22 x 16 inch size seemed too large to merit space on my counter, and I couldn’t imagine myself luging it out of a cabinet to toast a bagel or air fry onion rings.

But considering its relatively low price, and the fact that most air fryers of this style don’t cook very evenly, we think the results were good enough. It also comes with a recipe booklet, which is helpful if you’re new to air frying. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention how good looking this model is—the entire exterior has a sleek matte finish, and it features a brightly lit control panel that’s easily visible even in a dark room. Several co-workers who walked into the test kitchen immediately gravitated to the Cosori out of all of the other air fryers on the counter because it looks so chic. That said, the Philips Premium Airfryer is not our favorite appliance for air frying. If you have the space and budget, we recommend an air fryer toaster oven, which is more versatile and cooks more evenly than its pod-shaped counterparts.

At Target we have a wide range of Airfryers with different functions and styles. Whether it is a toaster-oven, convection oven or a traditional pot style cooker, you can find one at Target. In the range, you can find cookers that can be pre-programmed if you are someone who is always on the move. We also have different brands to choose from like Chefman, Cusinart, Ninja Foodi, Philips and more.

Yet, it was only serviceable at baking biscuits, browning them unevenly on top and barely at all on the bottom. It broiled chicken breasts quickly, but didn’t give them much color. I looked around online and through our own list of the best air fryers, and asked my friends online if they had recommendations about air fryers they own and love.

In most, we also cooked homemade French fries and chicken nuggets, frozen nuggets, and Nashville hot chicken. This Cuisinart doesn’t have digital controls like most of its competitors do, but the rotary dials are a no-brainer to operate. It’s narrower and taller than a standard toaster oven, but still fits under a standard cabinet. It’s also big enough to accommodate two pounds of fries, six slices of bread, and a four-pound whole roast chicken. Be aware that all the parts need to be hand-washed instead of going into the dishwasher. Because of its small size, and the fact that it doesn’t cook as evenly as the Philips Premium Airfryer, we don’t think this air fryer is for everyone.

This assertion is misleading, since the “technology” is just a plastic lid that rests over the bottom of the bucket where the fat collects. In reality, the tray was just one more item we had to clean, so we wouldn’t recommend using it (the air fryer functions fine without it). If you’re looking to feed more people, Philips also sells a larger version of this air fryer, the 7-quart Philips Premium cuisinart air fryer oven Air Fryer XXL HD9650/96, though we haven’t tested that specific model. If you’re looking for a compact kitchen appliance to bridge that gap between a microwave and a conventional oven, a pod-shaped air fryer might do the trick. They’re awaiting your next meal at any time, take up minimal space but pack all the punch you need for everyday bites, and they can tackle nearly every job.
